NEWS RELEASE: Preliminary Damage Assessments Conducted by FEMA in Fond du Lac County

Preliminary Damage Assessments Conducted by FEMA in Fond du Lac County

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will begin preliminary damage assessments in the State of Wisconsin this week.  Fond du Lac County Emergency Management is anticipating FEMA will arrive in the county this week, tentatively Tuesday or Wednesday. There may be adjustments to these dates once FEMA begins assessments and determines the extent of damages and time needed to complete the work.

When FEMA and Wisconsin Emergency Management(WEM) staff does arrive, Fond du Lac County Emergency Management staff will accompany them while they are in the county.  Personnel conducting assessments will have proper identification.

The preliminary damage assessments will be conducted on the exterior of the homes and will not include all homes that sustained damages at this time.  These assessments will provide FEMA and Wisconsin Emergency Management with the information to determine what, if any, assistance our county may qualify for.

Fond du Lac County Emergency Management will inform the public when those decisions have been made and what the next steps will be.
